Population explosion in India

I have just returned from a field trip to a nearby town in West Bengal which is around 2 hours away from Howrah. We traveled by the local trains and realized and discussed about the huge population of India.

Population in India is overwhelming. Any where you go, you can find people anytime, any day.

Many a times, Indian population has been a dinner table conversation topic in my home and my father has many a times expressed his opinion that a common man's life today holds no greater significance or value than an ant. India hopes to leap towards economic and social development but it cannot do so while carrying the heavy burden of an exponentially growing population.

And during the trip, Bhavna also observed that it seems the whole population is stalking her wherever she goes. "Why do all people have to shop when I plan to shop? Why do they have to travel when I have to travel? Why do all people come out of their houses when I come out?".
